Rope Access Services

Rope access system is a safe method of working at height where special ropes and associated equipment are used to gain access to and from the work position, and to be supported there. The advantage of using rope access (abseiling) methods mainly lies in the safety and speed with which workers can get to or from difficult locations to carry out their work, often with minimal impact on other operations, surrounding areas and the environment.

Another major benefit is the reduction of the combination of the total man-hours and perceived level of risk for a task (man-at-risk hours) when compared with other means of access and their associated risks and costs. The primary objective when using rope access methods is to carry out the work efficiently, with minimal accidents, incidents or dangerous occurrences. To ensure a safe system of work is maintained always, whilst avoiding damage to property or harm to the environment, careful planning and documented risk assessments are undertaken for each operation.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of The Government of India has identified Rope Access Trade as a Skill to be developed and has demonstrated the Rope Access Skill through their tableaux during the Republic Day Parade 2017.

Access Solutions

Fall Arrest Projects

Rope Access Crew have extensive experience working on fall protection projects in the areas of safety at heights, fall protection installation and personnel training, lifeline inspections and re-certifications

Rope Access Projects

IPES management team has more than 65 Years of combined experience in Professional & Industrial Rope Access Trade. Our strategy to develop the rope access trade which will benefit the industries and the rope access professionals while maintaining credible sustainable organisation.

All IPES Rope Access Crew Members are with IRATA Certification and given regular refresher training in rescue techniques. We never compromise on Safety and Quality of the rope access equipment. We procure the equipment only from the following credible manufacturers;

Camp Safety, Italy
Petzl, France
Beal, France

Each pieces of the rope access equipment are thoroughly examined in six months interval by competent rope access technician and records are maintained.

Apart from the thorough examination of equipment, routine inspection regime has been fulfilled on daily basis at rope access project sites as well. This strict control of Rope Access Equipment Selection, Inspection and Maintenance of Rope Access Equipment enhance the confidence of a rope access operative.

IPES undertake inspection, installation, repair, refurbishment and maintenance projects. Our expertise team prepare specific methodology for each project task in consultation with client, solutions towards their project challenges.

Suspended Deck Systems

Deck System provides a solid and stable working platform which feels like scaffolding. Deck System can be installed 10times faster than Installation of hanging Scaffolding. The Deck systems are made of Catenary Wire or Suspended Truss Systems Users can carry out a variety of heavy work tasks off the deck as if it were scaffolding.

The design is simple, lightweight and strong. Deck System panels feature a patented hook and clasp system which anchors the deck panels to tensioned catenary cables. These are then secured and stabilised by additional suspension chains.

Tensioned Net Systems / WEB Net / Work Positioning Netting

Tensioned Net System or Work Positioning Netting are used to enhance the production of rope access crew, by providing them means to stand on, thus reduce the fatigue. The primary anchorage attachment will be rope access system. This is ideal for carrying out huge scope of works such as Paint Refurbishment Projects, Welding Repairs, etc. at under-side of deck, platforms, helidecks, derricks, etc. and internal tank roof.

Fast installation and dismantling time reduces costs by about 75%. WEB Net tension netting is also approximately 5 – 10% of the weight and volume of scaffolding and therefore is easier and cheaper to transport. Storage space required on site and in the yard, is also reduced.

Design & Installation

IPES Rope Access Division can design and prepare access strategy for sky scrapers, unique buildings, civil structures and industrial plants in associating with the architects and engineers at the stage of conceptualisation.

IPES Rope Access Crew is competent in installation and maintenance of Anchor Points such as Fall Arrest Eyebolts and Single Point Anchors.

Incorrect installation of Fall Arrest Eyebolts & single point anchors can prove fatal. Installation should be carried out in accordance with BS 7883:2005 – Application & Use of Anchor Devices Conforming to BS EN 795 and Appendix A of BS EN 795:1997 – Protection Against Falls from a Height – Anchor Devices – Requirements & Testing.

Installation MUST include the testing procedures detailed in these two standards and only be carried out by someone who is competent to do so. In the case of Anchor Devices installed into brickwork, concrete and masonry a 6kN axial load test of 15 seconds must be performed to ensure the integrity of the fixing. Through fixings require a torque setting of 35Nm.

Pre-use Inspection, Annual Testing & Re-Certification

Before each occasion of use, anchor devices should be visually inspected & checked manually, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. This should be performed by someone who is competent to do so, preferably the user.

At least once every 12 months each anchor device should be subjected to a periodic examination in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions by a competent person. If used for rope access purposes, anchor devices come under the Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), which requires an examination period to be every 6 months.

Label on Class A1 anchor Anchor devices not regularly examined because they are not used on a regular basis should not be used unless they have been inspected within the previous 12 months (or 6 months for rope access purposes).

A suitable label should be provided clearly showing the date of the next inspection & the uses for which the anchor device is intended, e.g. “For Fall Arrest Only”, “For Rope Access Only” or “For Work Positioning & Restraint”.

For connection of personal fall protection equipment to anchor devices, connectors conforming to BS EN 362 should be used. Detailed advice is given in BS 8437.

IPES is competent to install permanent access system such as Ladders, cage Ladders, Fall Arrest Systems to various industries as per the requirement of the clients.

Competent rope access crew is assigned as rescue team while huge scaffolding activities during the shutdown schedule.

Rope Access Crew is assigned to provide tool box talks, standby at site, act immediately upon incident to bring the casualty to safe place, set up pre-rigged rescue system, etc.
